Promoted by the Brazilian Association of Capital Market Investors (Amec), the Amec Investor Forum 2015 took place on May 28, 2015, at Insper, in São Paulo. The event fostered debates on the main themes of the economy, financial market, and investments in Brazil – specifically for minority shareholders. Amec invites CVM and BM&F Bovespa to reflect on dividend policies

At the end of June, the Association of Capital Market Investors – Amec – sent a letter to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission – CVM – and to The Securities, Commodities and Futures Exchange - BM&F Bovespa, requesting efforts to make the policy on the payment of dividends by publicly-held companies clearer. The association expressed its willingness to contribute to an eventual study group especially created for that.

IBGC launches new Guideline Letter and strengthens its position about the Governance in companies controlled by the Union, States, Federal District or Municipalities

Failures in the Governance of State-Owned Companies impact several sectors of the Brazilian economy and demand the full and definite adoption of professional managements and good governance practices. So that these organizations reach their objectives, it’s essential that their internal control mechanisms work on an adequate, prompt and effective basis and that their Boards of Directors seek to ensure such effectiveness.

Invitation for Public Hearing Code of Best Corporate Governance Practices

The IBGC – Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance – invites the domestic capital market participants to give their opinion on the draft of the new Code of Best Corporate Governance Practices. By means of a public hearing, the IBGC expects to receive important contributions from different stakeholders, to be further considered in the preparing of the final version of the document.

CAF is now part of the Corporate Sustainability Index

Launched 10 years ago, the Corporate Sustainability Index (Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial – ISE) – is being reformulated. The long questionnaire was fully reviewed through a public consultation process. The Brazilian Takeover Panel - CAF – has actively participated in the reformulation of the questionnaire for the checking of the ISE and suggested the inclusion of questions about the adherence and consultation to CAF in the section related to corporate governance issues. The new questionnaire was released and all suggestions recommended by CAF have been included, what demonstrates that the adherence and consultation to CAF is recognized by the market, in addition to being important when it comes to the evaluation of corporate governance issues. The Sustainability is evaluated according to three pillars: Respect for the Environment, Relationship with Stakeholders and Corporate Governance.

CODIM - the Guidance Committee for the Disclosure of Information to the Market -, formed by representatives from Amec and other eleven associations of the domestic capital market, brought its most recent announcement – “Simultaneity in the Disclosure of Information” - to Public Hearing.

China set to be the world’s largest IP market

According to the quarterly Ernest & Young Global IPO Trends, so far this year, 241 companies have listed in China, raising an aggregated US$40 billion. According to the same report, China is set to be the world’s largest market for initial public offerings due to a bullish capital market and favorable regulations.

Ibracon 5^th Brazilian Accounting and Independent Auditing Conference

On August 3 and 4, Ibracon – the Brazilian Institute of Independent Auditors – will be holding the 5th Brazilian Accounting and Independent Auditing Conference. The event, which has the support of the Federal Accounting Council (CFC) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IBD), has already become a reference in the agenda of the accounting and corporate class for debating relevant topics, anticipating scenarios and contributing to the development and updating of professionals in the Accounting and Independent Auditing areas.

The Committee of Accounting Pronouncements – CPC – will be holding the “XII CPC INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR – INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS" in Renaissance Hotel (Alameda Santos, 2.233 – Jardim Paulista – São Paulo), from 8 am to 6 pm, on November 9, 2015 (Monday), as part of the committee’s program of continued education and sustainability. The event is organized by FACPC – Supporting Foundation to the Committee of Accounting Pronouncements.
