In September, 3G Radar, GrandPrix, and Kondor Invest joined Amec, which now reached its highest number of members: 61 institutional, local and foreign investors with investment mandates in the Brazilian securities market totaling approximately R$ 500 billion.
At the same time, Investidor Profissional, which joined Amec in 2012, requested to leave the entity because of “focus and priority” issues. But the company will continue close to the association. According to the partner Rodolfo Marinho, “we will keep informed of Amec’s actions and as we notice a greater alignment, we will come closer again.”
AMEC (The Association of Capital Market Investors) was established on October 26th, 2006, as an initiative by independent and financial institutional investors to advocate for the rights of minority shareholders and promote the development of the Brazilian stock market.
To achieve these objectives, AMEC fosters debates and discussions among its members, with adherence to strict internal governance guidelines, including the management of conflicts of interest. Topics are discussed by the Technical Commission and further submitted for decision to the entity’s Executive and Advisory Boards.
In its six years of operations, the entity has become the main discussion forum for institutional investors with regard to corporate governance practices and investors’ rights in Brazilian companies, in line with the most recent international recommendations. At the same time, AMEC recommendations have also increasingly gained the recognition of investors, companies and regulatory entities, given the association’s relevance and independent approach.
