Former FED director Randall Krosner to participate in workshop organized by Amec and IBGC

Amec is pleased to invite its members to attend the workshop Turbulência Macroeconômica e Governança Corporativa (“Macroeconomic Turbulence and Corporate Governance”) organized by Amec and IBGC and supported by Vale.
 
The event, to be held on December 18th at Windsor Atlântica Hotel – Salão Cabo Frio I, II and III, at Avenida Atlântica, 1,020, Copacabana, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, will include a speech from Randall S. Kroszner, Norman R. Bobins, Professor of Economics. The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. Kroszner was Director of the Federal Reserve System from 2006 to 2009 and Chairman of FED’s Committee of Supervision and Regulation and also the Committee of Consumer and Community Affairs. In these positions, he played a leadership role in the development of responses to the financial crisis and undertaking of new initiatives designed to enhance consumer protection and transparency for credit cards and mortgages. Mr. Kroszner represented the Federal Reserve System in the Committee of Financial Stability and in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, in addition to representing the Central Bank’s Directors in the North-American Continent. He chaired the working group of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), comprised by representatives of Central Banks’ Directors and deputy Ministries of Finance, with the objective of promoting a better balance for international payments.
 
The event’s moderator will be Armínio Fraga, founding partner of Gávea Investimentos, a Rio de Janeiro-based company established in August, 2003. Mr. Fraga was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BM&FBovespa from April 2009 to April 2013 and President of the Central Bank from March 1999 to December 2002.  Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of Soros Fund Management in New York, Director of International Affairs of the Brazilian Central Bank, Vice President of Salomon Brothers, New York, and Chief Economist and Operations Manager of Banco Garantia. Mr. Fraga is a member of the Group of Thirty and of the Council on Foreign Relations, in addition to participating in the Board of Directors of a number of non-profit organizations. He is the active author of several publications in the international finance, macroeconomic and monetary policy areas. He received his Doctoral degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1985 and his BA and MA degrees in Economics from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1981. He was a MA degree professor in the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, in the School of Economics of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and in the School of International Affairs at Columbia University and Wharton School.
 
 
The presentation will be delivered in English (no simultaneous translation). Seats are limited.
