In January, Amec – the Association of Capital Market Investors – contributed with the public hearing about ICGN – International Corporate Governance Network – Stewardship Code. The document drafted by the association’s members is part of the activities developed by Amec’s Working Group related to the preparing of the Brazilian Stewardship Code. “The contribution of the association to ICGN was very important for our learning process and will directly reflect on the drafting of the Brazilian code,” explains Amec CEO, Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha.
In October 2016, when Amec will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, the association will introduce to the market the Brazilian Stewardship Code – Governance Code for Investors – an initiative led by Amec.
According to Amec CEO, the objective of the Brazilian Stewardship Code is to gather principles, mechanisms and policies that will guide the role of investors in all governance-related issues – including their own roles and those of their investees. The ultimate objective is to help institutional investors comply with the fiduciary duties owed to their clients through the exercise of their political rights.
