During the conference of the International Corporate Governance Network – ICGN, held in San Francisco from June 28th to July 1st, the CEO of the Association of Capital Market Investors was nominated co-chair of the Global Network of Investor Associations (GNIA), which is managed by ICGN. GNIA is comprised of 11 associations that represent investors in several countries, among which the USA, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, Malaysia and Southeast Asian countries.
The objective of GNIA is to enhance the capacity of national associations to share agendas and provide its members’ initiatives with mutual support. As an example of GNIA’s recent results, Amec has identified significant coincidences in the association’s claims to the International Accounting Standards Committee – IASC – relative to consolidation standards.
Recently, GNIA debates have been focused on the proxy access, on the executives’ compensation, on the IRFS implementation and on the work developed by consultants, among others.
